This is the list of permission that the extension requires and the reason for the requirement:

- Read and change all your data on the website you visit - This permission is required for the password manager functionality. This way FavSync add-on can input the login data directly into the currently opened phone tracker website.

- Read and change all your browsing history - This permission is required for importing your most visited websites into the FavSync New Tab.

- Display notifications - This permission is required for various functionality.

- Read and change your bookmarks - This permission is required for importing the bookmarks from your sms tracker.

- Manage your apps, extensions and themes - This permission is required to access the APPS in your FavSync New Tab.

Note: these permissions are required ONLY for the functionality mentioned above. FavSync will not abuse, resell or store on its servers any of the information for any other purpose.
Unfortunately, the permissions the add-on requires are sometimes too general.

Example: just to import the most visited websites into your FavSync New Tab, the add-on needs to ask a permission to read and change all the browsing history, even though changing the history is never necessary. 

For example, you are in the middle of shopping and see an ad for the latest movie in the cinema. You don’t have the time to check it now, but you want to remind yourself to Google it later.

Now you can do it just that by sending an email to your virtual email with Google in the subject.

Here’s how it works:

1. Create a new email addressed to your virtual email and fill in Google in the subject.
2. In the body fill in what would you like to search and hit Send.

A bookmark with a Google search will be created on your FavSync page and you can check it when it’s convenient for you.

Here’s how it works:

Open Account Settings, scroll to IMPORT FROM COPY/PASTE and click on Upload Text. Afterwards, paste the text and click on Preview.

Choose the links that you would like to import and the tab where it will be imported and click on Import.

The links will be created as bookmarks in the Import from copy/paste category.

The Filter keywords option will help you importing only the relevant links.

Here’s how it works: after signing up on FavSync, a virtual email address is automatically created for you with @addtofavsync.com domain name.
When sending an email to your virtual email FavSync will extract the links and save them as bookmarks on your FavSync account in the category “From virtual email”.

You can choose your own virtual email address in the Account Settings.

You can also share your virtual email with friends and colleagues, so whenever they have a new link to share with you, it will be added directly to your FavSync account and will not be lost between the emails.

Sharing Box can be used for marketing purposes as well as social purposes.

In case of an email marketing campaign it is vital to check if your emails were effective. Having the option to look at who in your target audience opens your links, you can determine what needs to be adjusted in your campaigns.

If you want to share a funny link or a video that you have found online through your social networks or via email and be notified when it was opened, you can do that also through the Sharing Box.

Sharing Box also keeps a history of all your shares in one place, so that you won’t need to check everywhere to find a link that you have shared.

Here’s how it works:

1. Drag a bookmark from your FavSync page to the Sharing Box (it will slide out at the top of the page).

2. Choose how would you like to share it from the following options: social networks, your personal email, FavSync email or via copy-paste.

3. Optionally, fill in the name of the recipient.

You can also share the website on the go by using the share button on the FavSync add-on.

This is an efficient and easy way to manage all your shares in one place and get notified when they were opened.

Here’s how it works in Chrome:

In the settings of Chrome press on Manage search engines.
You will see FavSync as one of the options. Press on Make default:

This will set FavSync as a default search engine and will combine search results from FavSync, Chrome and even Google autosuggest.

Note two things:
1. You can always reverse it easily, by setting Google search engine as default (or any other search engine you had as default).
2. It will still autosuggest Google and will show the bookmarks and history from Chrome. The only thing that will change is that it will add the results from FavSync to it.

You can access your favorite websites even with one-key shortcuts, since it also works with the shortcuts that have been defined on your FavSync page:

And it even works with Direct Search (searching inside websites).
Here’s how: start typing the website you would like to search inside, press arrow down to have it selected and add “:” and then your search query.
It can be also combined with shortcuts.

You can also use it without setting it as a default search engine by typing “favsync.com” in your address bar and by pressing TAB every time.

Here’s how it works in Firefox:

In the search engines field press on the icon and choose “Add FavSync”

Then you can search on FavSync through the search engine field:

The results are the same as in Chrome, just without the browser results, which are shown directly in the address bar of Firefox, so it’s only the FavSync results + Google results.

Pressing on the trim button will remove everything that comes after the first / and will leave only the parent domain.
Example: www.cnn.com/somearticle will become www.cnn.com

Sometimes I end up reading a good article on a website that I like. Problem is that I want to bookmark the website itself and not the specific article, so that’s when I use the trim button.

We understand that you are too busy to sit and check every bookmark if it’s still alive or maybe you have it saved two times accidentally or maybe you actually never used it and never will. It’s okay, we will do it for you.

Clean Up Center does three things:

1. Checks for dead bookmarks
2. Checks for unused bookmarks
3. Checks for duplicate bookmarks

Afterwards it presents it in a simple list, from where you can just choose which bookmarks you would like to delete or archive.

We all have these bookmarks that we don’t want to delete, because maybe, someday, we might need them, on the other hand we don’t want to see them anymore.

That’s why you can archive bookmarks and don’t have this dilemma anymore.

A new option when you press on the delete button is introduced: Archive it.

Afterwards it will be stored in a special tab, called Archive.
This tab behaves almost as a regular tab and you can even choose a view mode for it. To bring something back from the archive, simply drag the bookmark/category to the tab you want it to go.

Note that if you don’t have anything archived yet, the Archive tab will not appear. After you have archived your first bookmark, it will appear. If you don’t want it to appear, you can change that through the View Settings.

Imagine you are collecting bookmarks that you would like to use when you are bored.
You could, of course, store them all in the same category. However, when one bookmark is related to IT news, another one to some funny jokes and a third one to some online tutorial, you might want to store them in the proper categories and still be able to access all of them at once.

In this case you can assign the same tag to all of them.
You can add tags when adding/editing a bookmark manually or via the add-on:

Searching for tags can be done through FavSync search or directly through your address bar. It will show you up to three bookmarks with that tag in the results list and an option to see all the bookmarks with that tag.

You can only use AND / OR keywords for searching for multiple tags together.
Example: bored read OR bored watch will show you bookmarks that have one of the two tags.
Example: bored read AND bored watch will show you only bookmarks that have both tags.
